Starting a Gutter Business
Starting a Gutter Business? Or maybe you already have
a gutter installation business but are in need of some
more clients? Here are some ideas to get you started
in the right direction.
Business Plan:
First you need to create a business plan or have a through
idea of what you will need to begin your gutter installation
business. Your business plan can be simple or complex,
depending on what your needs are. Will you need a loan
to buy a gutter machine? etc.
Register your new gutter business and hire an accountant,
or learn how to file your business taxes. If you are
unsure about how to file your business taxes you can
hire an accoutnant to help you get setup for the first
year.
Find your Supplier:
Get in touch with a good national supplier like American
Rainware and only order the materials that you need
per job. Otherwise you may be forced to warehouse some
of your overstocked materials.
Next, what products are you going to carry? Ask your
supplier what products they have available and what
they would recommend. Remember, they have been in the
business for a long time and will know what a good product
for your area would be.
Purchase your Equipment:

Create your Brand:
You'll need some company shirts and a logo. The more
that you can display your logo the better. People will
remember a good logo and colors. If you skip this step
you will easily be outdone by your competition! Your
customers are looking for a skilled professional, and
you have to look like one too. That's part of adding
trust and credibility to your company. The better you
look and perform, the more people will talk about your
service and the more referrals you will achieve.
A
basic brand contains:
A Logo
Slogan / Theme / Selling Point (What makes you different)
Business Cards
Flyers / Brochures
If you really want to go full speed try adding some
extras like:
Truck Decals
All Weather Business Card Holder for your truck
Door Hangers
Company Shirts
Company Hats
Mailing Cards
Advertising your company:
There are different ways that you can advertise. Keep
in mind that anyone will take your money and put your
name somewhere, but don't stick with it if it doesn't
work!
Advertising in the local newspaper
might be a start.
A Yellow Pages listing. (nothing to big and expensive)
